Tips That Help Tip the Scales
With the obvious outward and inward benefits of exercise, why do people fail to work out regularly? We provide one important answer to this life-sustaining question: people fail to exercise because they do not feel good about themselves and their weight. Here are some tips to ensure that physical activity becomes a habit:
Begin your program by losing some weight, especially around the waist
This will energize you and help drive your desire to be more active in general
Variety is not only the spice of life, it can make exercise enticing
Dr. Diane Klein said that having a variety of activities—walking, weight lifting, tennis, aerobics classes, cycling, running—will ensure that you can exercise regardless of weather or time of day.
Have a set time to exercise every day
If you do reserve a particular time of the day for exercise, it won’t get budged out by busy schedules and the chaos that ultimately creeps up on you.
Exercise even when you are “too tired”
You’ll feel better if you do because working out energizes—it can even feel euphoric!
Experts agree that changing behavior is hard and rewards motivate. So, reward yourself. If you walk so many miles, buy yourself some shoes. Maybe purchase that coveted pair of jeans when you’ve faithfully exercised and dropped a few; choose what works best for you.
Commit to another person
Chances are if you commit to exercise with another, you will likely follow through because you won’t want to let another down. Even if you simply share exercise plans with someone and ask them to follow up with you, you will get ‘er done because you have become accountable to someone.
If you can’t find someone to commit to, you can count on Lean28 Nutrition. We’re here for you—we’re invested in your fat loss success!
